Back from hiatus!
WHEW it has been a great couple of days but I missed you my blog!
OK so over the weekend I was actually really good. I also have to give props to my bestie who I texted non stop about what I should eat and told her what I was eating so I would be accountable for making good decisions! She rocks.
First of all I came prepared and packed all this stuff to take with me.
Greek Yogurt, Pineapple, Peanut Butter, Honey, Carrots, Hummus, English Muffins, Chocolate Chips, Coconut, Avocado, Kale Chips, Date "fudge", Oatmeal, Popcorn, and Almond Milk.
I made a smoothie for the road.
Spinach, Blueberries, Banana, Peanut Butter, Almond Milk, Flaxseed, and some Ice
It was so tasty but not a cute color.
On the trip up we stopped at Subway and I got apples and a banana instead of chips! I also got some water that was REALLY good. It was sugar free and calorie free but it had flavor and was vitamin enriched. MMM it was called "V Blast"
Its just water until you unscrew the cap and then this little vial breaks in the lid and the flavor and vitamins release. I had the purple one and it tasted like dimetapp!
I liked it A LOT!
My strategy over the weekend was to eat what I brought and to cook. While the family ate pizza I made a grilled chicken wrap. While the family ate biscuits, gravy, and sausage - I made an egg and spinach wrap.
This bundle helped keep me entertained so I didn't crave food as much.
We went to Kroger while I was there because I needed more substantial food than my "survival" kit had. While we were there I found some FUN stuff.
First a GIANT bottle of Shiner that I couldn't drink... DANG
Brussell Sprouts on the stalk still FUN!
Texas Tea!!!! SO FUN
WAY TO REPRESENT NAC!!!
While everyone ate burgers, hot dogs, potato casserole, and chips and dip. I had a lot of water and only allowed myself to splurge a little.
I had a burger patty wrapped in lettuce, a lot of fruit salad, a small amount of potato casserole, and of course some cake. I HAD TO look ... it was THIS GOOD
Then we had to come home - so sad! I almost cried BUT I didn't.
On the way home I decided to try Coconut water! This one was Acai Pomegranate and I love the juice so I thought sure thats gonna be GREAT
IT WASN'T it tasted like boo boo FOR REAL
My weekend off was great and staying healthy on a trip was something new to me and I think I did pretty good. I got some good tips and tricks up the sleeve for when I do it again.
1. Take food with you
2. Don't be embarrassed to cook for yourself while everyone else eats something different
3. Be accountable to a friend with what you are eating
4. DON'T try Vita CoCO
I am not a fan of flavored coconut water but the plain is pretty good. Great way to stay on track on your trip!
