Major Pains

As I said earlier I am visiting with Aunt Flow and she is seriously an evil wainch. I get really bad cramps and serious PMS becoming quite the wainch myself. This morning I wanted to do nothing but lay on the couch and watch tv all day... it sounded like HEAVEN.
I had VBS of course so that was not an option. I packed my gym bag put it in the car and told myself as soon as VBS is over you go straight to the gym. When I left my cramps were NO ME GUSTA. I am sure that many of us women have known this fact for a long time but after exercising my cramps were gone.
"Exercise relieves cramps because it helps release beta-endorphins, which are internal opioids -- your own “human morphine,” according to Kelly’s doctor, Gustavo Rossi, MD, an obstetrician-gynecologist at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. “It produces analgesia [pain relief] and helps to burn the prostaglandins -- chemicals released during menstruation that cause muscle contractions -- much faster.” The best form of exercise for relieving menstrual pain, experts agree, is aerobic exercise -- something that gets your heart rate up. “The important thing is that you do it at least three times a week, for 30 minutes at a time,” Real relief from period pain seems to come from vigorous exercise, the kind that gets you breathing hard and your heart pumping fast. When that happens, your body releases endorphins that help counteract the cramp-producing chemicals that are part of the menstrual cycle." The next thing to do after exercise is take a hot bath, drink some hot peppermint tea, and then put a heating pad on. AHHH YES
Somehow bubble baths feel 1,000 times better after a hard workout.
Peppermint tea is like a spa in a cup. It really helps relax my mind and body and makes me HAPPYLICIOUS! You can find the health benefits of peppermint HERE.
Heat stimulates the sensory receptors in the skin, which means that applying heat to the lower back will decrease transmissions of pain signals to the brain and partially relieve the discomfort. AHHHH BUT MOSTLY remember
